The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is a centre for basic research created in December 2000. The CRG is a non-profit foundation and has the backing of the Catalan Government through the Innovation, Universities and Enterprise Department (DIUE) and the Health Department (DS), as well as the Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), and the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MICINN). CRG's objective is to promote basic research in biomedicine and, particularly, in genomics, proteomics and systems biology. The official language is English. Group leaders at the CRG are recruited internationally and receive support from the centre to set up and run their groups.

The EMBL-CRG systems biology unit is a 6-group department within CRG, headed by Prof. Luis Serrano, who was until recently the Head of the Structures and Biocomputing Program at EMBL, Heidelberg. The EMBL-CRG partnership includes access to EMBL Core Facilities and regular meetings with the international partners in this program.

Research Topics Currently Explored at the CRG

  • Synthetic Biology
  • Evolution of networks
  • Evolutionary genetics
  • Expression profiling
  • Integrative analysis of -omics data
  • Model system development
  • Comparative genomics
